Misir Ali (Bengali: মিসির আলি) is a popular fictional character created by the popular Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed who appears in a disjunct series of novels.
Misir Ali is a rational psychologist committed to unravel the mysteries around him. In the books, he is portrayed as a very intelligent lone part-time professor of Psychology of the University of Dhaka. He is not a professional psychiatric consultant, but he is interested in paranormal activities and of the human psyche. People suffering from such problems come to him in search of satisfactory solutions.
Though none of the novels have, as yet, been translated into English, the whole series has brought about a revolution in the typical writing style in Bengali literature.
